چکیده
Objective: To investigate the correlation between cumulative doses of gadolinium-based contrast agents and increased signal intensity (SI) in dentate nucleus (DN) globus pallidus (GP). Methods: Our retrospective trial involved 21 multiple sclerosis patients (11 women, 10 men; mean age: 39.21±10.24, range: 20 to 57 years) who underwent a serial number cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations radiology department our tertiary care center. Average intensities on DN, pons, GP thalamus unenhanced T1-weighted images were taken into account. The DN was proportioned whereas thalamus. Any relationship DN-to-pons or GP-to-thalamus ratios previous administrations sought by means repeated measures ANOVA. Results: Increases both displayed significant with (p<0.001 for both). A remarkable increase detected first last MRI Conclusion: results support association SI gadolinium-enhanced scans MS patients. T1 seems be linked enhanced scans.

CLINICAL CORRELATIONS BETWEEN AUDITORY BRAIN STEM RESPONSE AND MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING IN PATIENTS WITH DEFINITE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
In an attempt to assess objectively the integrity of the auditory pathways in 30 patients with definite multiple sclerosis (MS), an audiometric evaluation was performed and auditory brainstem responses (ABRs) were obtained. Stressing the auditory system by increasing the stimulation rate showed some enhancement in the identification of MS. 24 (RO%) patients had an abnormal ABR along with c...
متن کاملRetention of Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agents in Multiple Sclerosis: Retrospective Analysis of an 18-Year Longitudinal Study.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Gadolinium-based contrast agents have been associated with lasting high T1-weighted signal intensity in the dentate nucleus and globus pallidus, with histopathologically confirmed gadolinium retention. We aimed to longitudinally investigate the relationship of multiple gadolinium-based contrast agent administrations to the Signal Intensity Index in the dentate nucleus and...
متن کاملThe presence of the gadolinium-based contrast agent depositions in the brain and symptoms of gadolinium neurotoxicity - A systematic review
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Gadolinium based contrast agents (GBCAs) are widely used in magnetic resonance imaging, but recently, high signal intensity in the cerebellum structures was reported after repeated administrations of contrast- enhanced magnetic resonance images. The aim of this systematic review was to investigate the association between increased signal intensity in the dentate nucleus a...
متن کاملPsychological Changes in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis
Introduction: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) as a stressful event, despite causing negative psychological changes, may lead to positive ones as well. Objective: This study was mainly conducted to examine the implications of posttraumatic growth and demoralization and also to determine the relationship between them in patients with MS. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, in which...
متن کامل[Gadolinium-based contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging].
Gadolinium-based contrast agents are increasingly being used in magnetic resonance imaging. These agents can improve the contrast in images and provide information about function and metabolism, increasing both sensitivity and specificity. We describe the gadolinium-based contrast agents that have been approved for clinical use, detailing their main characteristics based on their chemical struc...
